Hello, how are you? My name is Katherina but most people call me Kat. I am not sure how you got to land on this page – whatever the reason, welcome.\u00a0<\/em><\/h6>\n
I am an artist who does not fit any one box – I wear many creative hats and people call me for various reasons to do various roles in their creative processes. Broadly speaking – I make very visual theatre and I most often use devising as a process to make visually stunning and contextually stimulating and thought provoking work. I have directed, I have choreographed, I have designed spaces and environments for dance, theatre and site specific events.\u00a0 I often mentor younger artists as well as I observe as an outside eye and ask questions as a dramaturg.<\/span><\/h6>\n
As an educator, I have tough in primary and secondary schools as well as at universities across the UK. I have lectured in City of Bath College, University of Bath, University of Winchester, Wimbledon College of Art, Aberystwyth University, Hope University Liverpool, University of Central Lancashire, DeMontford University amongst others.\u00a0 I used to be a regular Artist in Residence in Kingdown Community College, Wiltshire.<\/span><\/h6>\n
I also make my own work- working solo and in collaboration since 2005. Since 2011, I have most often been working collaboratively with Alister Lownie – our performance practice is called TWO DESTINATION LANGUAGE. You can find out about us by clicking here.<\/a><\/span><\/h6>\n
My solo live art performance practice saw me perform in Artsadmin (London), The Albany, Arts 4 Human Rights Festival, ICIA University of Bath, Colchester Arts Centre, Salisbury Arts Centre, Z Arts Manchester, Word of Warning series, The Watermill Centre for Performance, New York (as an awarded residency), Pilot (Birmingham), The Showroom (Chichester), The Basement (Brighton) and Chapter Arts Centre (Cardiff). In 2009 I was awarded a Rules and Regs professional development residency at South Hill Park, Bracknell. Earlier work includes Part and Parcel (2008) about lost rituals and traditions \u2013 Artsadmin (London); Water into Wine (2007) about folklore\u2019s extinction \u2013 National Review of Live Art, Glasgow; Settling Dirt(2006) \u2013 East End Collaborations, Insomnia Bargehouse, London and Expo, Nottingham. In 2017 I led a DIY Live Art Development Agency in Dublin, supported by Create Ireland exploring themes of otherness, identity and belonging. I was a 2006 Artsadmin Bursary Recipient.<\/h6>\n
