My name is Katherina Radeva – most people call me Kat. I am an award winning set and costume designer, an award winning performance maker and a visual artist. I write, I design, I move, I dance, I draw. I work with communities all over the UK to make human, delicate and touching work. <\/strong> I believe in clarity and kindness and I stand firm by my ethics of collective responsibilities to create collective power. I am a first generation migrant from Bulgaria so I like working with people who are pro movement and have respect for the challenges I work with everyday as a migrant and a working class disabled woman in a largely elitist cultural sector. In August 2026, our critically acclaimed 40\/40 <\/strong>is playing at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, part of the curated and prestigious showcase Made in Scotland, for all the info <\/a>and tickets<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In May 2026, we are opening a new show AnOther <\/strong>at One Dance Festival, Bulgaria – info<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2026, I designed the set and costume for Birds of Paradise’s new sexy show We Indulge in a bit of Role Play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2025<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

2025 saw us making BOTTOMS<\/a><\/em><\/strong> – a new dance ensemble piece commissioned by Dance International Glasgow and presented at Tramway Glasgow and NottDance in Nottingham. 40\/40<\/em><\/strong> toured to Tanzmainz in Germany and Auawirleben in Switzerland. Hope & Ponies<\/em><\/strong> was on a billboard at Block Projects in Sheffield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

40\/40<\/strong> <\/a>is touring to Dundee, Melrose, Derby, Cambridge, Birmingham, Leeds — all the information is here. I really hope to see you there! And then – TANZMESSE in August 2024!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also this year – I have designed two works by Jo Bannon<\/a> – a film to be relieced at the end of March and an installation which you can see and experience during Mayfest in Bristol in May 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2023<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I designed The Olive Jar – a Shubbak Festival and Grand Junction co-production foregrounding stories from people from the Middle East. The Olive Jar will be revived again in 2024. Also, this year saw me undertake two separate residencies at BIRCA in Denmark!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2022<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Set and Costume design projects in 2022 are work with Notnow Collective<\/strong> in Birmingham, research and development with Jo Bannon<\/strong> and The Trauma Show by Demi Nandhra<\/strong> opening at BAC in October 2022 then touring. Other stuff is brewing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2021<\/strong> was pretty amazing really. I worked with Matty May<\/strong> – If You Love Me This Might Hurt at Camden People’s Theatre: In Bed with My Brother <\/strong>– PRIME TIME at The Barbican Centre; Dirliebane Theatre<\/strong> – Cinnamon Sisters at Perth Theatre Scotland; No Planet B<\/strong><\/em> at Horsecross Arts in Perth with Vickie Beesley; November Club<\/em><\/strong> working Nathan Crossan-Smith; Scottee<\/em><\/strong> <\/a>and Fat Blokes Company<\/a> on The Kind Body. Some of my design and drawings for Selina Thompson’s salt<\/strong> can be seen on BBC i-player<\/a>. I tried to do all of that as sustainably as possible with every design choice I made. #designingsustainably<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My visual art works are a vital part of my practice and are part and parcel of my design thinking.
